| | | UpState Brewtopians! | June 2009 | | | | The meeting at Thomas Creek was a blast as usual and I'd like to thank the Thomas Creek Crew for graciously hosting us once again. The BBQ Challenge was a smash, and I think it was unanimous that we make this a yearly event. Perhaps next time we have some specific categories. But all in all the BBQ Challenge went of even better than I had anticipated. Thanks to everyone who participated. Beer, BBQ and friends. How could you go wrong? The beer list was excellent as well, clocking in at 16 beers total. I think this speaks well of the dedication of our club members, and the enthusiasm we have for fine beer. | | | | BBQ CHALLENGE WINNER: Well I'm sure one could call foul when Urban, the mastermind behind the BBQ Challenge and one of our resident foodies, won his own challenge, however the judging was done by an independent panel. For his efforts, Urban took home a $25 gift certificate to Thomas Creek Brewery. | | | | BEER LIST: Wee Bit Heavy, Porter, Carmel Pale Ale, Daddy Juice, Dragon's Milk, Brick Head IPA, Son Of A Brick, Oh Amber!, Rye Pale Ale, BlackBerry Ale, Whit, Special Bitters, Smoked Porter, Belgian Double, 90 Minute, and topping off the list we had a taste of our recent Big Brew Day Sassion. | | | | GPEmeritus, once again, took home the pendant for his Rye Pale Ale. | | | | LOOKING FORWARD: Our next meeting will be in July on the 18th at Halfway to Havanna. Details will be forth coming. Additionally, those of you who have tennative dates beside your names need to firm up your schedule and get back with me. | | | | MEETING IDEAS: I think it is safe to say that everyone enjoyed the BBQ challenge meeting. Thanks to Urban for the suggestion. If you've got a unique meeting idea, please let us know. | | | | Bourbon Barrel Mead Update: Steve-o has reported that soon we will be ready to transfer the mead to it's resting place in the bourbon barrel. Details coming. Brew On! BrewBoy-IP | |
